PROJECTS

FEATURED PROJECT:

"Do you think you could survive a horror movie?"The second movie from Operating System Films, "DIOKOPHOBIA" follows two Urban Explorers, Mike and Bill, as they explore a derelict castle which might not be as abandoned as they once thought. Set in the real Lennox Castle Hospital, "DIOKOPHOBIA" is a charming indie film, and love-letter to 1980's slasher B-Movies and Creature Features that fans of horror are sure to enjoy.

INFO

THE ORIGIN STORY

When I was a kid, I loved Dinosaurs. This wasn't your normal level of liking Dinosaurs either, mind you, I was well and truly obsessed. How does that have anything to do with getting into filmmaking, I hear you cry! This is where I remind you that this is prewritten and I can't hear you. Well, this lead me to the discovery of a good few movies, notably Jurassic Park III and the 1998 Godzilla, two films with Dinosaurs (or Dinosaur-esque creatures) in them, and whilst not the best movies in retrospect, these would be the two films that would send me down the filmmaking spiral. I would spend more time watching the special features and the bonus discs than I would the film itself. Eventually, the blood in movies just became tomato sauce in my eyes (as my mother always so eloquently put it).Inevitably, I started making my own stories. Simple characters and basic, predictable narratives, but it was a start. However, the true beginning of OPERATING SYSTEM FILMS was in 2020. For some reason, people weren't going out as much anymore, so to keep myself entertained, I'd make cartoons and short films, nothing fantastic, but I didn't mind. I did it for fun, and it was indeed very fun. I'd keep going at it, eventually making "Mind Over Machine" (which you can watch here). This would be my first 'big hit', and my first true passion project, something I spent months on, something I was (and still am) truly proud of, and whilst the animation is rather choppy and cheap, and I don't even do cartoons anymore, I consider this the very first, Operating System Film. Pathing the way for many, many more in the future.

WHAT I DO

What I do is make films. Its as simple as that. I could come up with some sort of inspirational and beautiful complex reason as to why I do what it is I do but in reality I just do it for the love of the game. Plain and simple. The name 'Operating System Films' just comes from an old username of mine and a general love for old technology, but it doubles as a clever metaphor for myself.Movies that are made with a shoe-string budget, cheap practical effects and a couple of my friends in fancy dress pretending to be actors. Films that take you back to those long nights watch 'so bad they're good' movies on the Sy-Fy channel or what not, lying on the couch with a bag of flavourless microwave popcorn. That's me, the flavourless popcorn movie. It's almost a sense of nostalgia, like an old computer that, yes, compared to a new, high-tech computer is rather lackluster, but it's the computer you grew up with, and that's why you love it.For as long as we've made films, we've made films that scare us. Twisted tales of the things that go bump in the dark, the skeletons in your closet, even if the skeleton is just a hastily painted Halloween decoration. I'm one of the freaks that loves horror movies, everyday is Halloween in my house. So it's what I do, I make horror films. Sometimes they end up good, sometimes they're very tropey and schlocky, but it's the perfect level of tropeyness and schlockiness that we all love, and no matter how my films comment on things or how metacontextual and subversive they may get, they're always fun. That's my number one guarantee.

Operating System Films isn't responsible for any films I make that AREN'T fun. This isn't a legal promise, and is just an anecdotal message. I have lawyers, do you have lawyers? I didn't think so, I'll see you in court.
